Mindless Echoes started as an idea, an attempt to capture moments in the reality around us. What started as a project, a musical story of life-cycle: 12 chapters consisting of the 12 steps in a person perspective of life, soon became much more. This idea formed into an album, written and composed by childhood friends, Oded Kahn and Omri Luzon at 2006, and was entitled Rebirth.
By the end of 2007 recordings of the first album Rebirth started, at Sound Music School in Tel-Aviv. The process took a year to complete, but the result was less than satisfactory.
After a short break they decided to restart the entire project by forming a band involving the two original members and drummer Efi Tubi. Few months later bassist Erez Shermer, former member of Pai Mei, joined the band, and shortly after Efi was replaced by Adi Magal.
At 2009 the band started working towards new recordings of 4 out of the 12 songs, enclosed as a self-produced EP. The recordings took place in Tel-Aviv (by recording engineer Roei Luster) and the mixing/mastering in Studio Mega, Sweden (with sound engineer Johan Örnborg).

Seven AM
If you ever have a band and a job you should always try to figure out what is the relationship between the two. One must be your hobby while the other is pleasure. Today we had a 6 hours session, from 7AM to 1PM, on our off day. For me, it’s the only free day during the week, and Last night I went to sleep at 1AM. The rehearsal took place in Kibutz Yagur, an hour plus drive up north. Needless to say I barely slept 2 hours that night and woke up to Adi’s evil drumming (much worse than an hangover but remarkably better than my alarm clock).
Working with a band is far harder than working at a daily job – you never really want to think of your music as work, but it is. Marketing, publicizing, training, composing, interacting and a million other things that never seem to wither. You’d think that holding a distorted power chord will be enough to bring you all the juice, but it’s those 7am to 1pm rehearsals that wake you to the fact that there’s still a lot of work ahead. Still, I won’t lie to you – it is such a damn fine pleasure.
Maybe it’s a masochistic pleasure (I still haven’t really slept), or Maybe it’s a dreamy pleasure. But that is one thing that you can’t deny – at the end of the day, after you have done all those annoying tinkering, you have the sensation of: “Ah, another step forward”.
Today we worked on a new song called Childhood from our first conceptual album. This song was the sixth original song we have worked on so far. The list contains the songs: Teenager, Adulthood, Old Age and Midlife Crisis. Add to that list the single we have been working on like crazies for the last two months – Family Man (which you’ll hear of soon enough). Childhood has a funny story – we actually recorded it twice in the past, before we you could call us a band and all of this was a just project in its diapers by Oded and me. The first recording was an English version, as all of our songs are. We then gave a copy of this song to Oded’s guitar teacher, Lauren, who loved it so much he made us record a French cover of it. Oded polished his French for God knows how long… The result was so funny that it makes me cry every time I listen to it. Who knows, maybe we’ll let you have a laugh at our expense one day.
Another echo,

It’s been a month since I came back to Israel, after finishing our mixing session in Sweden. It’s been four months since I left home. It’s a strange sensation coming back home and seeing things just the way you left them, while deep inside things have shifted. The world turns no matter what, they say, yet it feels that things have a different time-zone.
In that one tiny month we’ve established some amazing things –
We started an online network, what with MySpace, Facebook, iLike, Reverbnation and many more sites all around the net and the world. We got some amazing and inspiringly good feedback from people about the EP and our work – it feels good to have something you believe in, something which is yours, in your hands. We also finally finished the CD art itself, all the little details of making the visual aspect of the album good. I hope that you guys will love it just as we do. We had some interesting conversations with different musicians and fans about their thoughts and feelings towards our music. And now it is time to take another step forward!
This week we will have our first rehearsal after a long time. Recordings, producing, publishing, promotions – all consume so much of your time that you forget that music is about making it too. We are starting to work towards some shows, which we will inform you guys when the time is right. Let’s just say that we have big plans and aspirations!
Stay in touch with us, tell us what you think.
And don’t forget to always listen to your Mindless Echoes,
- Omri.

Blog 1 - Updates & Lyrics Hello fellow music lovers,
We are now working on the final touch-ups of the album, and hard-copies will be produced in the very near future. It’s been a stressing few months but we are more than enthusiastic and excited about the results and comments you guys leave us – thank you so much for the amazing support!
Due to many requests we decided to share the lyrics to the Rebirth EP songs with you and open a little live discussion, if you guys are willing to, about what the lyrics mean to each of you, how do you relate to them. As you know each of the songs is an episode in a person’s life, we tried to sum up the best we could what it feels like through that phase. So what do you think – did we hit it? Did you have a different experience?
We know that many of you dislike the low quality of MySpace’s 96k streaming, so if you want some higher quality (like we have on our Facebook page) you can check out iLike.com - http://www.ilike.com/artist/Mindless+Echoes for downloadable 320k quality versions of the entire EP songs.
Stay tuned and don’t forget to listen to your Mindless Echoes.

Teenager
Eight until four bound to this chair,
this wooden chair of precision.
Free me of all these laws.
Free me of all these laws!
Let me set my own mind
in motion,
emotions.
Let me set my own emotions.
A soul is formed,
a troubled mind,
a bird in a cage –
can’t seem to focus.
My trail has been set before me -
may I even walk it?
Am I allowed to fall?
Will your arms carry me
the way through
the gates of calamity,
will they set my bird free?
Midlife crisis
The just purpose of life seems to fail
by the sands of time.
Bound to the sun
just for a moment of glory.
We are but a spec
sometimes of hope.
We are but a spec of
sorrow and pain.
Look behind you -
see the strokes of life’s brush
running out of color
to paint your picture.
Is my picture filled with meanings?
Can I bestow upon myself
this fragile fragment called life?
We are but a spec
sometimes of hope.
We are but a spec of
sorrow and pain
(sometimes of happiness).
Adulthood
My sun, my shining light, rises.
I gaze at hope, luring me on,
bright days are further still.
My eyes are numb,
my cup is cold.
Sleep has no meaning
just keep on
to bury a mind
and look ahead,
fake a smile.
The way is shut.
Breaking through is my
horrific task.
Becoming a being
who understands
life and meaning.
Old Age
Stepping off the racing tide
I wish i could once again
dive into the sea of youth,
collapse into your arms.
But there’s too much to see
the world will not wait for me.
But there’s too much to see,
the world will not wait for me.
Take it easy, one step at a time.
No longer rushing -
just more memories than time.
Now is my turn
to immerse in life
one last time.
And all those tiny feet
remind me
how precious mine…

Experience has shown, and a true philosophy will always show, that a vast, perhaps the larger portion of the truth arises from the seemingly irrelevant.
